We are The Parkdale Hookers, an alternative indie rock group based in Toronto, Canada.
We can best be described as AntiGlam(tm). Take all the attributes you are supposed to associate with Rock ‘n Roll: glamour, being cool, being hip, being “in” - and get rid of it. What’s left is us. We’re like a trio of accountants who figured out a way to make Marshall stacks tax deductible and went with it.
Any musician or band worth their salt these days needs to have a web presence and a good understanding of what brings people to their site and how people can find them on this ever growing world wide web.

He said last year “if we record a Christmas song, it’ll get played every year as DJ’s and podcasters scramble for anything Christmas-like for their Christmas shows”, so we recorded Have a Parkdale Hookers Christmas Time last year which was today selected as CBC Radio3’s New Music Canada Track of the Day

The Chronicle of Higher Ed got a briefing at RIAA headquarters on how the group catches pirates. They just use LimeWire and other software that pirates use, except that they've set up scripts to search for songs, grab IP numbers, and send out notices to college officials. They claim they don't target specific colleges, though many feel that they do
After urging from the MPAA and RIAA, Los Angeles County agrees that piracy is a "public nuisance" and that buildings and equipment used to store or manufacture counterfeit discs can be seized.
Despite widespread declarations of the death of DRM in music, the Recording Industry Association of America insists that it's far from dead. At the Digital Hollywood conference taking place in Los Angeles this week, the organization argued that DRM is still used in the large majority of music distribution methods.
